Is Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg in the palace courtyard worth it?

The Kammeroper Rheinsberg is worth it if you want opera on an intimate scale and enjoy rarely performed works. The singers are young artists at the start of their careers who won the festival's own singing competition. Rheinsberg is a fair way from Berlin by train, so plan your return in advance or stay the night.

Before you go

What should I know before an evening in Rheinsberg?

If it rains

If it rains, the orchestra plays inside the palace theatre and the music is relayed live to the courtyard, because the valuable instruments must stay dry. The singers carry on outside on stage. If the show is called off because of the weather, you can swap your ticket for another date, donate its value or ask for a refund. At the latest two hours before the start, the weather line on +49 33931 721 14 and the website tell you whether the show goes ahead.

„Sollte es regnen, muss das Orchester aus dem Schlosstheater live zugespielt werden, da die kostbaren Orchesterinstrumente keinerlei Feuchtigkeit vertragen.“

After an evening show there is often no regular train back to Berlin. For selected performances the festival and the Berlin-Brandenburg transport association organise an extra train or bus. In summer 2026 special buses ran on four Saturdays via Oranienburg to Berlin Gesundbrunnen, with a separate ticket. Whether they will run again in 2027 is not yet known.
